7 Day Jungle Breathwork & Nervous System Reset Palenque, Mexico
With JoseLuis Saenz
Open Dates
Your nervous system has been running on high alert for months. Maybe years. This week, you learn to turn it off on purpose.
Not through rest alone rest helps, but it doesn’t rewire anything. Through breathwork: the only tool that gives you direct, conscious control over your own physiology. The same system I taught divers to use underwater when their body was in full panic. Now applied on land, in the Palenque jungle, in cold water, in extreme heat, and in the silence of a Mayan rainforest at 6am.
How the week works
On arrival we sit down together and talk. What brought you here, what your body is carrying, what you want to be true by the time you leave. From that conversation, the week gets built — not from a template, but from where you actually are. There’s no timetable to keep up with. No session you’re late for. The week is curated around you, not downloaded onto you.
What we work with
Breathwork is the spine of the week. Everything else the ice bath, the temazcal, the jungle trail, the cascades is a place to apply it.
Daily breathwork sessions use different techniques for different purposes: activation in the morning, parasympathetic recovery in the afternoon, breath retention for mental resilience, emotional release work when something needs to move. You’ll understand what you’re doing and why not just follow instructions.
The ice bath comes with breathwork preparation. We don’t walk up to cold water and get in. Ten to fifteen minutes of deliberate breathwork first, changing your physiological state before the cold arrives. What happens in the water isn’t really about the cold it’s about staying calm inside discomfort while your body is sending every signal to escape. The same skill I spent twenty years teaching divers.
The temazcal is a traditional Mayan sweat lodge heat, darkness, steam, and intention. We prepare with breathwork before entering. Your nervous system doesn’t distinguish between cold panic and heat panic; the breath works in both directions. Most guests say this is the session they remember longest.
The jungle trail is not a tourist excursion. We use it as a moving practice breathwork stops where the canopy opens, where the light comes through, where the river crosses the path. The rainforest at 6am does something to your nervous system that no studio can replicate.
The waterfalls Roberto Barrios or Misol-Ha serve as the natural nervous system reset of the week. Breathwork at the water’s edge before we enter. Movement, breath, and wild cold water that connects everything built during the week.
The Palenque ruins close the week, not open it. After seven days of internal work, walking through one of the most important Mayan cities ever built lands differently than a day trip on day one. We go at opening, before the heat and the crowds.
What makes this different
Most breathwork facilitators learned breathwork. I learned what breathwork is trying to solve. Twenty years underwater training divers, then the instructors who train divers, across Mexico and Egypt gave me one thing: how to keep a human being functional when every signal in their body says panic. The breath was always the answer. Cold water, equipment failure at 30 meters, zero visibility the physiological response is identical to an ice bath, a temazcal, or a 3am anxiety spiral. The breath works in all of them, because of physiology, not belief.
I’m in every session. Not observing in the water, in the temazcal, on the trail. If something shifts mid-session, I’m there to work with it in real time.
After you leave
90 days of remote coaching are included: your breathwork protocol written down, a nervous system regulation plan built around your real life, direct WhatsApp access, and monthly check-ins. The week is designed to be a beginning, not a peak.
Twelve rooms in the Chiapas rainforest. Small groups. A coach who’s in every session with you.
No fixed schedule. No group of thirty. Just the jungle, the breath, and seven days to build something that travels home with you.
